My criteria as an ok amateur is that the magic should be different, unexpected, not difficult, and
run for more than a few seconds. Stegasaurus certainly "does the trick".
Phil mentioned
incorporating this with another trick and Binary from Rick Lax came to mind. It appears to be
super-human memorization in a few parts, takes about as much skill as Stegasaurus, but fits
perfectly to create a routine. The Penn and Teller demo is just amazing, but it still impresses as a
table version that I can do. Watch it on Penguin Magic.
I haven't looked at the pdf yet,
but it would be great to have a set of words oriented toward real estate brokers, restaurants,
lawyers, etc. for those of us in sales or support.
Hi, thanks for the review, and thanks for the recommendation to pick up Binary - I saw it on P&T:FU and it looks AMAZING.
Ref: custom lists for various different trades, the pdf contains links to a resource that will help in creating those kinds of things. If you get stuck, give me a buzz.
The 8,500 word list by "binary count" and the search feature really helps. Thanks.
I'm not sure if my additional comment was sent or edited out, but I thought that this was a good suggestion for the 3rd phase:
Have all the words written small next to the page you will tear out of a 3x5 spiral notebook. The page will be where you write the matching word. This way the person can shuffle and hold the word list and choose a word without laying them out for me to see. They would shuffle the letter cards and spell the word and turn the cards over. I then look at the turned over cards. Figure the binary count and look at the words in the spiral book. Write the word.
Having the word list disappear and my having only blank backs to look adds to the effect.
