Even though I've never met him, I really like Marc Spelmann. He seems like such a nice guy and
excellent mentalist. His videos like his Penguin Live lecture, What am I
Thinking?, The
Unexpected, and especially his magnum opus, The Chapters of Marc Spelmann are "must haves" because
they are all truly excellent. I was really psyched for some new material from Marc. And when I saw
that Peter Nardi was hosting the video, it seemed like I was going to be in heaven as Nardi and
Spelmann, best friends, are hilarious together.
So even though this is a four-star review,
there is some disappointment. There are a lot of card tricks, too many for me. That's not saying
that they are terrible, but there isn't a lot of variety in this lecture. Actually, I really liked
Marc's imp device. It's cheap and easy to make. He also gives a nice way to do Larry Becker's
Sneak Thief for one person. That's a routine that I'm adding to my repertoire. But the fact of the
matter is, unless you are really looking for mentalism card tricks, there's not a lot of stuff of
interest. Is it worth the low price? Of course. But don't expect to be wowed by the content.
