I surprised that there hasn't been more love here for Mark Elsdon's version of the classic
Chronologue diary effect. This version is superior in that in requires only one diary, and both the
diary and cards are on the table at the beginning of the routine. If you've done a variation of
this routine before, from watching the trailer you'll know the method immediately. It's a pretty
sharp use of an old gimmick.
Like other diary effects, this one also has that really
tedious set-up of filling in all 365 days in the diary. But once you've accomplished that, you are
good to go for life. While I'm not entirely in love with Elsdon's routining, his teaching of this
effect on the accompanying DVD is good, as usual.
In short, if you like doing Chronologue
as much as I do, you'll probably make this your go-to version. (Although I would note that I'm not
sure how many more years you can get out of this effect since paper pocket diaries are being
obsolete in this smartphone world.) It's excellent.
