First, the reason I am not an authorized buyer is because I got this wallet at the Penguin Magic
Convention in Charlotte. That being said, I've been using this wallet as my regular wallet, and my
go-to trick, for a little over a year now.
First, considering how long I've been using it,
this wallet is in great shape. The only signs of wear are a little bit of thread from the stitching
that I snipped off, and a little crack in part of the peak mechanism. Neither of these affect the
trick, and they are both barely noticeable.
Second, I'm a college student now, so I don't
carry too many cards or too much cash, but this wallet more than meets my needs. There are 3 card
slots on one side of the wallet, which were tight at first but have now stretched out, and they can
each hold two cards if you need them too. There's also a pocket on the other side of the wallet that
I use to hold two cards and a key. There are two cash compartments as well.
As for the
trick, it fools people. Period. The peak is so well hidden into the routine that people have no idea
how you found out what was written on their card. I purchased a wallet pen to go along with this,
and I get the peak as I put the pen back in the wallet. I'm pretty sure that no one remembers me
going back to the wallet. The card being folded DOES make it much more effective. Showing it still
folded at the end almost gets a second reaction, as they remember, so far as they know, it was never
unfolded, and thus not visible, going into the wallet, while in the wallet, or coming out of the
wallet.
I used this wallet in a scholarship interview last February, and after I had done
my trick, the interviewers were captivated for the rest of the hour. It broke the awkwardness
normally associated with an interview, and they were impressed both by the trick itself, but by how
I managed to use it to hand out my business cards. Needless to say, I got the scholarship.
This trick is the most consistent trick I own, as it never fails to fool, get a reaction, or be
on my person. I've used it in all sorts of scenarios and must have performed it over 100 times by
now. It was well worth the price.
