This book was one of the best reads ever for me. It's Robert Neale's treatise on illusions we
mentally create in our everyday lives and how our eyes and brain purposely trick us into a false
reality for our personal comfort, the grand illusion. Along the way he teaches some of the coolest
magic and optical illusions I've ever read. The first official trick in the book is an absolute
blast that anyone can do and will never stop doing. Thanks to the way our eyes and brain are wired
together, anyone can lay a bill on their hand and visually cause it to magically stand on its end
then levitate up, off the hand. The index of the other hand can even be swept beneath it, proving
it's truly levitating! No one else sees it but to the person holding the bill that's absolutely what
happens. Your eye and brain just created a false reality for personal enjoyment, which stands the
question what's truly real? The book was deep, thought provoking, enlightening, and complimented
with great practical magic.
