I really struggled for a while whether to buy the app - the premise did not strike me that much and
the price is somewhat on the higher end for what it does.
Nicks teaching is well done (and
apart from that it is really easy to do when you are already performing this type of effect with
"real" cards) - which was one of the reasons why I finally decided to give it a try/buy it - I do
not have always a deck of card with me, but I do have a phone wherever I go.
For the price
tag however there is definitely room for improvement and this is the main reason for the rating I
give.
Some ideas for improvement:
There should be a hidden setting where you can:
-
Use / create a different stack
- Start with a certain card of the stack
- Switch from a
"card generator" to a "number generator"
- Adapt the starting screen to use a different
premunition (i.e. import a photo an just have defined a certain area as a "start" button)
Another idea related to the price - when buying it for one OS you should get a voucher which
lets you use the app for both android and iPhone (or to buy the app for the other OS for a
discount).
I am going to revisit this review as the app evolves hopefully in the right
direction ...

There was a great product called ScanTastic by Larry Becker and Lee Earle. Long of the market, it
was a little gizmo that allowed for card predictions. With smart phones, Next round is more organic
since the world is run by Apps on phones.
Bravo to the Penguin Team to letting us learn
what it is before buying. for the Hobbyists or Pro, this is worth more than the $10 cost.

I’m thankful Penguin allowed customers to view the explanation prior to purchasing the app. The
method the app incorporates for this is clever…but it is not for everyone. I don’t want to give the
method away, but I will advise that you watch the explanation prior to purchasing. Aside from the
method not being something I can or would use, (so the app isn’t for me, personally), there are a
couple of minor reasons why this isn’t for me. I think certain presentations taught wouldn’t work
with the wrong timing or in a particularly distracting environment; as the spectator could possibly
get ahead of the magician here. It requires some memory, and certain uses will require being able to
track your spectator’s actions by means other than sight when not looking at what they’re doing. And
the problem with apps is always that they never truly seem “fair” to the spectator(s), because,
well…they’re apps. I think that takes away from the impact of the trick.
It’s clever, but not
above suspicion, (which kind of ruins the impact), and definitely not for everyone. Three stars for
being clever and on the right track…two stars off for the limitations that narrow who can/would use
this.

I think the method is good, but the trick should come with alternate popular stack methods as
options.
Still seems a bit gimmicky to me, especially with having to use a real deck thrown
into some variants to accomplish the trick, with loooooooooong explanations.
I thought I
was just buying an iphone trick.....I can do the same trick without it and using my own deck.
Good potential but needs a lot of work.

Good app. I have (thing) memorized so I wish there was a way to start at a random card rather than
always starting at the 4C. If you close out of the app and want to repeat the trick it will be the
same every time and that could be obvious to the spectator. Maybe am update with this option? Other
than that it is a really nice and easy app to use.

Well, I liked the presentation. The word use was “free” which the trick was free but getting the
app was a charge. Legally when describing something that is free, when it’s not, is not legal
without disclosing any other charges.
Fantastic method, and can be used with other situations, takes a little to get the hang of but we'll
worth it. Tutorial is free, app is with the price, crafted well.
very good trick ,good value, would recommend, many thanks to penguin.
Great introduction to this kind of card magi, very interesting.
Great company with excellent customer service and support.
