"Waxed" is a version of "The Gypsy Thread" or "Torn and Restored Thread." This version is taught to
you by magician Lonnie Chevrie. With Lonnie, you are in very good hands as he is an excellent
teacher. Lonnie is complete yet concise with his descriptions and demonstrations. On occasion, he
repeats a couple of moves for you just to be sure you are clear on finger and prop positions.
"Waxed" uses waxed dental floss - the kind that comes in a plastic dispenser, with a snap lid
and its own built-in cutter on the inside. The cutter helps immensely as you don't have to deal
with breaking the "thread" by hand or by using burning candles to cut the thread.
The
thread (floss) set-up is fairly standard, and the wax coating helps with this.
Later, after
you have cut off a number of pieces of the floss, the wax coating helps a lot with the next maneuver
you have to do with the pieces.
At the finish, you end clean as Lonnie has a neat little
move combined with putting the dispenser away in your pocket.
When "Waxed" is set-up and
ready to go, it rides around in the dispenser until you're ready to perform! A terrific effect by a
terrific teacher! What more could you ask for?

This a GREAT effect and I have been using it for years. However, it is becoming more and more common
on Rick Lax's demos that the entire effect is not shown. Showing his hands completely empty leaves
out a step. Same criticism with Diamonds are Forever. You can do better, Rick.

Superb. Can be found on the outlaw magic of Lonnie Chevrie which is fantastic. I also recommend the
captured dvd by him as well. Best and only version of the thread trick I preform.
Like
others stated takes a minute to reset so that maybe something you want to consider. Either that or
having a few packs of dental floss on you ready to go. I prefer the patter by starting out... "have
YOU ever gotten to the end of a box of dental floss just to find there is not enough."
Of
course everybody can relate to this. Then I continue with my patter using the word YOU throughout.
Example... " check this out. All you have to do is tear off little pieces like this then you bundle
them together like this..." In my experience, this is the emotional hook that allow them to be a
part of the magic.
Get this. Very simple to do have never even even been close to being
caught. Misdirection is automatic (heat is on restored floss) and clean up is natural. Everybody can
relate to and use dental floss...

Fun, easy to perform and taught perfectly. My only suggestion - having tried a number of different
floss brands - stick with Reach...it has far more wax than store brands so it's easier to manipulate
and it's so familiar to an audience why use a brand that the spectator might believe isn't "normal"?

I was really thinking of keeping this to myself but that would actually be unfair to Lonnie Chevrie.
I have experimented with dental floss in my gypsy thread journey because that seemed the most
obvious presentation for gypsy thread but somehow missed the mark in the handling and left it
eventually. I have always had an issue justifying thread and it's always come with issues of cutting
the thread and all that. Lonnies handling is the BEST the best!! Another thing is it plays so much
bigger because floss is by nature thicker and has a shine that isn't there with normal thread...If
there are any reviews that have less than 5 star's you can ignore them...its the best version out
there and I have explored most of them...All I can say is thanks Lonnie for releasing it :-)

I have avoided the gypsy string for a long time until I saw this rendition. I am a dentist and
illusionist so this is perfect for me. It is simple, elegant, and it really fools. I true classic
that is a LOT easier than using string. It is a lot more visible than thread as well, and it really
creates that magic moment that we all strive for. 10/10 worth every penny, shut up and give him
your money!

I've spent 5 to 10 times as much for tricks that are now setting in my "drawer of wasted money never
to be used illusions". This one however, will be one of my first up, can't screw up little gems that
we all look for.
Now, if I could only have the stage presents of Lonnie, i'd be all
set.....Maybe a cowboy hat or something...hmmm.

I love this version of Gypsy or Hindu Thread Trick. It solves all of the issues in one simple and
every day product. I wish I would have thought of this long ago. I love this effect and it will be
a part of my routine as of today. Add to cart.... Thank you Lonnie and Penguin Magic.

I've always liked the idea of learning the gypsy thread but never took the time to do it. Something
about working with tread seemed awkward to me. When Waxed came online I decided to finally give it a
try considering the compact and simple nature of using floss in a container. Lonnie's instructions
are clear and pretty simple. I was doing a rough version of the trick in practice pretty quickly.
I would have enjoyed a little more detail/tips on the handling challenges(not overwhelmingly
challenging). I've found the pulling off "additional" pieces of floss while holding the first piece
of floss to be a little bit of a challenging learning curve to not do it awkwardly. May be me
though. I think I'm getting better each time I do it. Thanks Lonnie! Great product!

I learned this gem of a close-up trick from "Lonnie Chevrie Live", a video lecture sold by Penguin.
It gets very strong reactions and is pretty easy to do. The re-set takes about a minute and cannot
normally be done in front of spectators (although Chevrie says he sometimes does it behind his back
while talking to people). The trick is so good that I have considered using it in walk-around,
even though I'd have to carry 4 little dental floss packs in my pocket to avoid the re-set issue.
