There are 3 parts in this video :
- The first part is a new handling for the Hoy principle with
books. Personally, I prefer the original handling, especially as I know a subtlety to show the page
number in a first step of the handling
- The second part is a drawing duplication : it is a good
idea.
- The third part explains 2 methods for a ACAAN. The first method is the idea I prefer in
this video. I have not tested it yet, but it is the only idea in this video that I want to try. The
second method is not practical and is even impossible, to determine the number if the number is
small or high.
1 of 1 magicians found this helpful.
I use book test methods, but use them for much more than the divination of a single word. I've used
several secrets out there, but always come back to the Hoy principle for the simple, direct, and
innocent look of it all. That's why I made this purchase. Perhaps there was something here that
could enhance my performance of it.
I was not disappointed.
In a bit over 20
minutes I was treated to several new ways of using Hoy that had never occured to me before. Devious
yet extremely powerful pathways within a secret that has already served me well throughout the
years.
For example, I've never performed an ACAAN because I've never found a way that works
for me. There is not 1 but 2 methods on here that I do plan on performing in the future. There's
also a secret that has me thinking of a different way I could do one of my favorite stage creations.
That's the point. A simple book test might warrant 3 stars at best, but this little video
will inspire your brain to start thinking in creative new magical directions.
I know about the Hoy book test, but Andrew Gerard got me thinking about other ways to use it other
than revealing a word or words. Drawing duplication idea is great and I intend to use it.
The any card at any number uses are great too.
Gets your mind thinking about other
applications to time honored techniques.
Highly recommended.
For $14.95 you cannot go wrong with this cheeky download.
Andrew's thinking and touches on
The Hoy Principle are great!
His idea of taking The Hoy Principle to be used in conjunction
with a deck of cards will get your creative juices flowing!
The "Invisible Book Test" was
my favourite.
Highly recommended for mentalists.
This download is low on running time (right at 22 minutes) but PACKED with some seriously clever
thinking!
Gerard's "Invisible Book Test" is a nice variation on Hoy's that I'll definitely
keep tucked away in my mind for the right occasion. It reminds me a little of Zandman's "IBT" in
that it doesn't require you to handle the book prior to the performance and I like Gerard's framing
of the moment where the mind reading is apparently taking place.
The drawing duplication
is an application on Hoy's test that you've likely already thought of so this really didn't do much
for me in terms of inspiring/novel content.
But the two versions of ACAAN are REALLY quite
beautiful (and I typically shy away from using playing cards)! Version 1 is ABSOLUTELY something I
could see myself using in an impromptu/casual performing opportunity (I'd simply use one of my
preferred "thought of card" techniques) and I KNOW this would fry some minds (even though it uses
the cheekiest of methods).
All in all I really enjoyed this nicely priced release.
Best,
Drew
