Andrew Mayne is not a new name to the magic scene, and this is actually one of his earlier books. I
usually like a lot of the stuff Andrew puts out, but this is just horrible. Grammar and spelling
mistakes were all evident. The material in this book just doesn't seem like it would make an
impression on anyone. Most of the material seem like cheap gags.
The ad copy that Andrew
wrote implies that the tricks will all be great impromptu effects. Wrong! They aren't great. Many
aren't impromptu. And as I said earlier, some aren't even effects! A more honest ad copy would've
been nice to let me know what I was buying. Perhaps if this had sold for a more modest amount I
wouldn't have felt so ripped off with my purchase. This should be sold as a $10 manuscript as a
book full of ideas and gags you can go off of.
In short, save your money and buy
something else, from Penguin, of course! :)
