So first off, I want to mention that I've read Strong Magic and Designing Miracles by Darwin Ortiz
prior to reading this book. This book is an excellent complement to those two.
Mr. Weber's
book is different in the fact that the focus is on presentation. Much of this is food for thought in
making you a better ENTERTAINER. The assumption is that you have your technique down. I think of
this book as more a collection of thought-provoking essays than a how-to.
Though there are
bits of advice all over (how to critique yourself, what patter mistakes you should avoid, how you
should dress), the most I got out of it was....WHY SHOULD YOUR AUDIENCE CARE? Is it a puzzle, a
trick, or something astonishing?
I'd highly recommend this to those who want to really
become entertaining and not just amuse other magicians.
